Faithworks originated in Poole from the recognition of the need to provide the infrastructure to support three distinct projects: 'looked-after children', 'homelessness' and 'isolated older people'. It was officially launched in January 2004 and became a registered charity in March 2005.
Faithworks now works with a wide range of churches and projects, all intended to provide in practical ways, help for those who need support.
FOCUS (Friends offering carers understanding support) is one of the projects managed by Faithworks. It is a free, befriending scheme for carers in Poole co-ordinated by Marianne McGuinness.
FOCUS+ is an extension of Focus, started to help meet some of the isolation and loneliness felt when carers become ex-carers. Focus+ consists of a get-together and shared tea, held at St. Clement's Church Hall on the third Sunday of each month. Anyone bereaved and feeling lonely is very welcome.
The Farside is a voluntary group, run by various church and youth group members from the Poole/Wimborne/Ferndown area with the single aim to equip and encourage young people in their Christian faith.
